Tax Impact
If put on the ballot by city council and passed by voters, these projects could add a total of about 8+ cents per $100 valuation to the city’s tax rate, for categories A-D. That translates to about $10 a month on the “average” $150,000 home in Beaumont.
Adding the police headquarters and golf course would likely raise the tax increase to 12-13 cents, or very roughly $16 per month on an average home. More expensive homes, and most commercial properties, would pay more.
These projections, from the city’s outside financial advisor, will be fine tuned as the city finalizes project phasing, what interest rates are at the time, issuance/administrative costs, and the city’s actual growth in new development and property values.
