Another potential rec project

The BBAC wants your thoughts on one project in particular: a course renovation for the Henry Homberg Golf Course at Tyrrell Park.

The course often floods and is in need of major renovation. A firm specializing in municipal golf recommended a complete overhaul to cure flooding and make the course a regional attraction ─ for $24.2 million.

BBAC members are undecided and want more community feedback. How important is the course to quality of life? The course will deteriorate over time without investment; is that a priority now? Is the price tag worth it? In addition to local use, renovations would attract more regional players and generate sales for restaurants, hotels, and other businesses, but it is not clear that the investment would strictly pay for itself in new fees and tourism. After feedback from the BBAC, city staff has come to believe it could be worthwhile to seek out other, possibly less expensive renovation options.
